Hi, I'm Leslie, an Artist from Keller, Texas
I am a retired public school art teacher. I taught for 34 years to all ages, from kindergarten to high school art in Ohio, New Jersey and Texas. I now live in Texas where I serve on the city public arts board and enjoy my retirement time by learning new techniques and skills in painting.
I always knew that I would do something with art. As a young third grader, my mom signed me up for a plein air painting class in my small home town on the Cape. It was mostly adults in the class, and I remember the ladies telling me that they liked my style, "it's sort of Impressionistic." I was just painting the patches of color that I saw. To my surprise, after learning that I needed glasses for distance, I discovered all of the details in objects all around. I still enjoy examining the beauty all around in nature and trying to capture it in my art.
Although I studied art at Kent State University, and have my BFA in art education, I never had the chance to take any watercolor classes. I love the look and the way watercolors blend on the paper, the transparencies and the effects. After retiring from teaching for 34 years I wanted to learn some new techniques. I participated in the online "Sea Marathon with Natalia Nasterova," and then signed up for her online class to follow videos independently. I learned so much about materials and techniques! I am so thankful that she made that available!
